Built by a clinician who spent 30 years doing CPD the hard way
CPD Bee was born from a simple frustration. After three decades in clinical practice โ recording CPD in notebooks, spreadsheets, Word documents, and half a dozen different portfolio platforms โ it became clear that healthcare professionals deserved something better.
Not another form to fill in. Not another clunky portal built by people who've never sat through an audit. A tool that actually understands how clinicians work: speaking naturally about what they've learned, uploading a certificate and having the system read it, and knowing that when revalidation comes around, the portfolio is already done.
That's CPD Bee. Voice-powered, AI-assisted, and built by someone who's been on both sides of the CPD audit table.
Tim Husband is a Clinical Audiologist and Hearing Therapist with over 30 years of experience spanning NHS leadership, private practice, national quality assessment, and professional education.
His career has taken him from Head of Adult Rehabilitation at Pinderfields Hospital (Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust), through a decade as Head of Service for Novus Health Audiology โ where he built a multi-centre community service delivering over 2,000 patient care pathways annually โ to his current role as Clinical Director of Hearing Therapy Ltd, operating clinics across Sheffield and West Yorkshire.
But it's his work in professional development and quality assurance that led directly to CPD Bee.
Tim served as Chair of the British Academy of Audiology's Professional Development Committee for two years, shaping CPD policy and guidance for audiologists across the UK. In that role, he saw first-hand how healthcare professionals struggled with CPD recording โ not because they lacked commitment to learning, but because the tools and processes made it unnecessarily difficult.
As a National Assessor for the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) through the IQIPS programme (Improving Quality in Physiological Services), Tim evaluates clinical services against national standards. Every assessment reinforces the same truth: the quality of a clinician's CPD portfolio directly reflects the quality of their practice. Yet the process of building that portfolio is where most professionals lose hours they could spend on actual learning.
This combination โ understanding what good CPD looks like from a national standards perspective, and experiencing the daily reality of recording it as a working clinician โ is why CPD Bee works the way it does.
CPD Bee isn't built by a tech company that consulted some healthcare professionals. It's built by a healthcare professional who learned to code because the tools his colleagues needed didn't exist.
CPD Bee started as a tool for audiologists and clinical physiologists โ the professions Tim knows inside out. But CPD recording is fundamentally the same challenge for every healthcare professional: you do something valuable, you need to record it properly, and you need your portfolio ready when your regulator asks for it.
Today, CPD Bee serves 59 professions across all four UK healthcare regulators:
Each profession gets voice transcription trained on its own terminology โ over 4,000 phonetic corrections across 22 medical specialties โ because an AI that doesn't understand your vocabulary isn't helping, it's creating extra work.
